Gran Turismo 6 developer Polyphony Digital is commemorating the 20th anniversary of three-time F1 champion Ayrton Senna’s passing by introducing new Senna-inspired content for the game throughout this month.
All throughout May, a short Ayrton Senna Tribute will be available on the official GT website, featuring a short film and two-part slideshow developed with assistance from the Senna family and Brazil’s Ayrton Senna Institute (IAS). The film, called “Ayrton’s Wish” details the development of IAS in 1994 following his passing.
Additionally, the studio will introduce a free update to be released with in-game racing content available for Gran Turismo 6 at the end of this month.
“To the Ayrton Senna Institute and to the Senna family, it´s really gratifying to have this partnership with PlayStation, through the game Gran Turismo 6, precisely in the Year 2014, when we celebrate the 20th year legacy of our beloved Ayrton.” said Bianca Senna, sister of the famed driver. “The game, without a doubt, is a very nice way to share his values to the new generations, as well as renew and immortalize the memory of this worldwide idol in an innovative approach. Furthermore, it contributes to an initiative that annually brings a high quality public education to 2 million children and youth in all regions of Brazil.”
