Hello Fellow Cravers. GD is here to bring you this weeks top 3 gaming news stories, the top 5 games, new releases and a recap of YouTube of the week with the Update!
3) Portal, Doctor Who and Jurassic World coming to Lego Dimensions?
Lego Dimensions, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s crossover toys-to-life video game, will get add-on packs based on The Simpsons, Doctor Who, Jurassic World, Scooby Doo and Valve’s Portal 2, according to files posted by Lego.
As spotted by Brickset, building instructions (PDF) published by Lego for an upcoming Lego Dimensions set based on Back to the Future shows images of fun packs, team packs and level packs for the above properties. Those characters were leaked via online retailers earlier this month.
A level pack based on The Simpsons includes Homer, the Simpsons family car and their television set. Additional The Simpsons fun packs include Bart and Krusty the Clown, each with their own vehicle.
Doctor Who will get a level pack featuring the 12th Doctor, a Tardis and K9, while the one we are more surprised about, Portal 2 level pack features Chell, a turret and a companion cube.
The Jurassic World team pack will include Chris Pratt’s character, a velociraptor and a security guard, while the Scooby Doo team pack will feature Shaggy, Scooby, the Mystery Machine van and a very large sandwich.
Lego’s building instructions also show off characters from some previously confirmed properties: The Lego Movie, The Wizard of Oz, Ninjago, The Lord of the Rings and superheroes from the DC Universe.
Lego Dimensions is in development at TT Games and is coming to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on Sept. 27.
2) Ubisoft calls in another studio to help with The Division
Ubisoft’s upcoming open-world role-playing game, Tom Clancy’s The Division, is getting some additional development help from the team behind Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell multiplayer, the publisher announced this week.
Joining existing teams Massive Entertainment in Sweden, Red Storm in the U.S. and Ubisoft Reflections in the U.K. is Ubisoft Annency, the French studio that has lead development on recent Assassin’s Creed multiplayer games.
“The team in Annecy is delighted to be collaborating with Massive, Red Storm and Reflections on Tom Clancy’s The Division,” said Rebecka Coutaz, studio manager at Ubisoft Annency. “We are bringing our previous experience in multiplayer online games and this project is allowing us to build our technical knowledge in other areas and become experts on this incredible brand. The collaboration with the other studios is going very smoothly, and we’re working together to ensure we meet and exceed the high expectations players have for this new title.”
A post on Ubisoft’s official blog says the Annency team’s role is being kept secret for now, though it’s not unreasonable to assume that it will contribute to The Division’s multiplayer, given Coutaz’s comments. Multiple teams contributing to one title is commonplace at Ubisoft; last year’s Assassin’s Creed Unity featured the work of 10 Ubisoft teams.
Tom Clancy’s The Division was announced at E3 2013. The open-world shooter is set in New York City in the midst of a viral pandemic that has led to the collapse of the U.S. government.
Last we heard, The Division was coming sometime in 2015 to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
1) Is the next Assassin’s Creed called Syndicate?
The next Assassin’s Creed, set to be officially revealed tomorrow by Ubisoft, will be called Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate when it’s released this Autumn, according to marketing material that was obtained by Polygon.
According to Polygon, the marketing material states that the game will “transport millions of gamers to an astonishing recreation of London during the Industrial Revolution where they will find themselves immersed in a game world they’ll have to see to believe.”
The game will star an assassin named Jacob Frye, according to the material. Those who pre-order the game and an unspecified UK store (more likely GAME) will receive an Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate shilling necklace, meant to be a replica of the one worn by Frye in the game.
Ubisoft says it will officially reveal the new title on May 12 at 5 p.m. UK time during a livestream. Earlier this week, Ubisoft posted an animated teaser for the game on its UK site for the next Assassin’s Creed game. The site included a reference to Jacob and the phrase “oppression has to end.”
Earlier this week, the U.S. version of the official site showed brass knuckles on its front page with phrases like “God Save the Queen” and “Strength Through Loyalty” in wood behind the weapon. The word “Rooks” is featured about the brass knuckles with a picture of a bird carved next to it. In the background you can hear the sounds of a church bell ringing and people talking in what sounds to be a bar or pub.
We will hopefully get more information this Tuesday, including a release date.
UK GAME CHARTS
This year we’ve seen a couple of motorcycle racing games (PQube/Milestone’s RIDE & Koch/Kylotonn’s Motorcycle Club) but now we have a 4 wheel racing game that does something that no other racing sim has done for 2 years – and that is to claim No1 (since Codemasters’ GRID 2 back in 2013). The game in question is Project Cars for PS4/Xbox One/PC, a crowd-funded AAA release developed by Slightly Mad Studios in the UK and published/distributed by Bandai Namco. It’s also the first boxed product release to tick the following 3 boxes: triple screen 4K resolution and compatibility with Occulus Rift & Project Morpheus…although neither of these VR headsets are actually commercially available right now. Rockstar/Take 2 remain at No2 with GTA V and Warner’s 3 week run at No1 with Mortal Kombat X is over as the title drops to No3.
Up 1 to No.5: DYING LIGHT
Still at No.4: FIFA 15
Down 2 to No.3: MORTAL KOMBAT X
Still at No.2: GRAND THEFT AUTO V
