The Update for the week ending 6th July 2015

Hello Fellow Cravers. I am GD and I am here with this weeks top 3 gaming news stories, the top 5 games, new releases and a recap of YouTube of the week with the Update!

3) Fallout Shelter planning to be coming to Android in August

Fallout Shelter publisher Bethesda Softworks is planning to release the game on Android in August, said Bethesda’s Pete Hines on Twitter earlier this week.

Asked about the Android version, Hines said it is “coming along [nicely]” and “should be out next month.” Hines is the vice president of marketing and public relations at Bethesda.

Bethesda announced Fallout Shelter during its E3 press briefing June 14, and released the game on iOS later that night. Within a week, the company said Fallout Shelter was the App Store’s most downloaded game in 48 countries and the most downloaded app of any kind in 25 countries. At the time, people were playing it 70 million times a day.

Fallout Shelter developer Bethesda Game Studios added the first Fallout 4 character, Preston Garvey, to the game last week.

2) Burnout Paradise in going to be backwards compatible on Xbox One

It appears Burnout Paradise will be one of the games to get backward compatibility support on Xbox One when that feature becomes available.

Tweeting unsolicited early this morning, Criterion Games said it is in discussions with Microsoft about making the game playable on Xbox One.

At E3 2015, Microsoft announced that some 100 Xbox 360 games would be playable on Xbox One by winter this year, and more coming after that. Eighteen games were mentioned, including Mass Effect, Viva Piñata and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2. Fallout 3 also will be backward compatible; Bethesda Softworks announced those who get Fallout 4 on Xbox One also get a free copy of its predecessor.

Games must be specifically enabled for backward compatibility on Xbox One; the feature doesn’t simply make all Xbox 360 discs playable on Xbox One. The console will still need to play a physical copy of the disc or otherwise purchase the game on Xbox Live’s digital marketplace. In either case, the user must download a copy of the game for Xbox One to that console’s hard drive. All features, such as online multiplayer, will work on the new hardware.

Burnout Paradise launched in January 2008 and was one of the most acclaimed driving games of the last console generation, particularly during its early years.

Xbox has opened a poll on backward compatibility, asking fans to name the title they would most like to see come to Xbox One. Red Dead Redemption still leads, closely followed by Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

1) Telltale show first trailer of Minecraft Story Mode at Minecon 2015

At Minecon 2015 this weekend in London, Telltale Games offered the first look at Minecraft: Story Mode, an episodic game set in the world of Minecraft and told in the style of Telltale hits like The Walking Dead or Tales From The Borderlands.

The game centers on protagonist Jesse, voiced by Patton Oswalt, and his group of friends. They’re off to find the legendary Order of the Stone, a group comprising members who are the greatest at four jobs: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Architect and Griefer. This bunch once slew an Ender Dragon, and they’re needed again.

The trailer (seen above) is a completely different way to look at Minecraft but it doesn’t feature (thankfully) some phony explanation for why everyone has Minecraft’s iconic low-res look. It’s Minecraft, which should be explanation enough.

Minecraft: Story Mode is coming later this year for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Mac, Xbox 360, Xbox One, iOS and Android.

With little in the way of new releases Batman Arkham Knight comfortably holds on to No1 crown for a second week. For Warner Bros. Interactive it means they maintain their comfortable hold on the Top 2 positions as Lego Jurassic World remains at No2. The Elder Scrolls Online also maintains No3 spot meaning an unchanged Top 3 for the 2nd week running. The Witcher III: Wild Hunt climbs a place to No4, while Grand Theft Auto V is up a place to No5. Yoshi’s Woolly World is down two places to No6 in its second week. Minecraft: Xbox Edition climbs four places back into the Top 10 to No7 just ahead of FIFA 15, which is a non-mover at No8. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is down two places to No9 while Minecraft: Playstation Edition just edges out Destiny to round of the Top 10.
