The Update for week ending 21st May 2017

Hello Fellow Cravers. I am GD, we are back after a 2 week break with the top 3 gaming news stories of the last week, we have Top 5 games of the week, new releases for the next week and a recap of YouTube of the week with the Update!

3)Life is Strange sequal is in the Works

Dontnod Entertainment is working on a follow-up to Life is Strange, its popular episodic adventure game from 2015. The development team announced the project in a short video directed at fans, you can see that video below.

“We can indeed confirm that the original Life is Strange team at DONTNOD are working on a brand new Life is Strange game,” the team wrote in a post on the Life is Strange Tumblr. “We can’t wait to tell you all about it when the time is right, but for now we are hard at work ensuring it is the very best game we can create.”

There are no other details for now, including whether the original Life is Strange’s cast will return. The game won’t be at this year’s E3, according to the post, so expect more information somewhere further down the line.

Fans have clamored for another chapter in the Life is Strange saga since shortly after the first episode’s release in spring 2015. The team danced around the idea of developing a sequel, but the game’s enduring popularity proves that players want more from the memorable teen-starring, Pacific Northwestern-set game.

2)Overwatch Anniversary event starts 23rd May

Overwatch celebrates its one-year anniversary later this month and Blizzard Entertainment is marking that milestone with a new event that kicks off May 23.

Blizzard hasn’t specified what will be included in the Overwatch Anniversary event, but previous events have included special game modes, reskinned maps and a large number of cosmetic items for players to collect. During an event in New York City, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan said that Blizzard plans to release more details over the course of the next week. The Anniversary event will run through June 12.

In addition to the limited-time event, Blizzard will also hold another free weekend for Overwatch from May 26-29. The game will be free to download and play during that time for players on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.

Blizzard will also re-release the game as Overwatch: Game of the Year Edition, which will include the base game and a batch of digital goodies. The Game of the Year digital release will include the content previously available to those who pre-ordered the game.

Here’s what’s included alongside the main game:

1)South Park: The Fractured But Whole coming October

South Park: The Fractured But Whole is due out this October, more than 10 months after its planned original release date.

Ubisoft announced that the role-playing game, which mixes up the adult cartoon with superhero lore, will arrive Oct. 17. The Fractured But Whole was first announced for a December 2016 launch.

Ubisoft delayed the game twice: First, the publisher pushed it from December to the first quarter of 2017. Then, in February, the company merely said it would arrive sometime before March 2018. The company reiterated during its earnings call just yesterday that the game was still planned to launch during the 2017 fiscal year.

The Fractured But Whole will be available on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One this fall, and the game will come with a free copy of its predecessor, South Park: The Stick of Truth. Pre-order customers will be able to download and play the older game immediately; the offer otherwise expires on Jan. 31, 2018.

Injustice 2 follows in the footsteps of its predecessor Injustice: Gods Among Us by making No1 in the Charts in its launch week. It is Warner’s first No1 of 2017 and the first beat em up to reach No1 since Mortal Kombat X, also developed by NetherRealm and published by Warner, back in 2015.

Sony’s new VR title Farpoint debuts at No2, making it the highest position a VR required title has ever reached in the Charts, surpassing Playstation VR Worlds – which debuted at No7 in 2016.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia from Nintendo hits No5 in its launch week, while Focus Home Interactive’s new title The Surge debuts at No10, forcing Lego Worlds out of the Top 10 for the first time since its release, slipping to No11. A final new entry in the Top 40 goes to 505 Games with Portal Knights in at No30. Several older titles re-enter the chart thanks to a retailer’s huge clearance sale, most notably Skylanders Superchargers, back in at No20 and Destiny: The Collection back in at No31.
